4 Easy Ways to Download Images from Google Docs

Teams all around the world use Google Docs for word processing and team collaboration on documents, but getting photos out of Google Docs can be a real problem. If you have ever tried to download a lot of embedded images, you will know what I am talking about. Right-clicking the image does not have the “Save image as” option to download selected photos. So the most apparent way to get these images from Google Docs is to copy them into another tool, such as Photoshop, and then save them to your computer. Or you can take a screenshot which will reduce the image resolution significantly. Thankfully, there are a few solutions that you can try instead of running around loops. Here are the 4 of the easiest ways anyone can download high-quality images from Google Docs.

Method 1: Upload the document to the internet.

The first trick is to upload the document to the internet and then download the image by right-clicking and saving it like you would on any other file. 

  • Open docs, press on File on the upper left corner of your screen > publish to the web > Publish > OK.
  •  A public URL will appear on the following screen, copy it and paste it into a new tab.
  • Once the new tab loads, you will find your document. Right-click the image you want to download and choose “Save Image As” to download the full-sized image to your computer.
  • Select your preferred location and press on “save.” 

Method 2: Use HTML file format 

Publishing a file on the internet and then downloading images one by one can be a slow and inefficient process. Sure, if you have only a couple of images to download, the method works well, but what if you need a handful of images to download? Downloading it one by one will take unnecessary time. And that’s where saving files as HTML will come in handy.

  • Open docs, go to File on the upper left corner of your screen > Download as > Web Page (.html, zipped) 
  • Download the File, and extract it to your desktop, which will be saved as a zip file. 
  • Double click the zip file to extract its contents, and then go to the pictures folder to see all of the photos that were included in the package.

Method 3: Install an add on 

Did you know that you can enhance google docs features by installing add ons? To install one for downloading images from the Docs.

  • Go to Add-ons from the top of the menu bar > Get add-ons in Docs and look for Image Extractor. Allow the add-on access to your Google account after installing it.
  • Go back up to Add-ons > Image Extractor > Press Start.
  • Choose the image you wish to save, give it a name in the text box on the right side of your screen, and then click download image. And your image will start downloading. 

Method 4: Save Images to Google Keep

Google has revamped its note-taking app ‘Google Keep’ from the ground up and has integrated it right into Google Docs for seamless integration. You may now use Google Docs to access the “Notes from Keep” sidebar. Additionally, you can now save and download Google Docs photos right from this sidebar. 

To save an image using google keep, first, choose the image and right-click on the “Save to Keep “notepad option. This will save the image in google keep, and now you can right-click the picture in the “Notes from Keep” sidebar and select the “save image as” option. Choose a folder where you want to download the image and click Save. Your images will start downloading shortly.
